Reiki
Reiki (pronounced Ray-Key) is a Japanese word for universal life-force energy.
Reiki is a Japanese holistic, light-touch, energy-based modality. Working as a support mechanism to the body, Reiki re-establishes a normal energy flow of Ki (life force energy) throughout the system, which in turn can enhance and accelerate the body's innate healing ability. Through a series of hand positions either directly on or just above the body, the energy worker allows for the flow of energy through their body. The client’s body then draws off the amount of energy that is required. Reiki is simple and produces measurable results. It is power, light and love.
The five principles of Reiki are:
Just for today, I will not anger
Just for today, I will not worry
Just for today, I will be grateful
Just for today, I will work hard on myself
Just for today, I will be kind to others
What to expect during a visit:
A treatment is approximately one hour in duration but please put aside some extra time before the first treatment to read and sign a consent form. After your treatment, you are welcome to discuss the results for 10-15 minutes, if you wish.
During the treatment the client lays face up, fully clothed on a massage table. A full treatment will offer both front and back hand positions. A request will be made as to whether you wish to be touched or not. If not, the hands are held approximately 4-8 inches above the body. Your comfort is of utmost importance, so please be honest. During treatment, each client’s experience varies from emotional release, pain relief, rest, relaxation and stress relief, to many other personal experiences. It is difficult to predict what you may feel, as each experience is different. There is no manipulation of the skin or tissue. Reiki is not a massage. Many individuals report feeling coldness, pulsating heat, or a tingling sensation during a session, and most enter a calm, relaxed state. In some cases, chronic or acute pain may diminish or completely vanish.
Remember we didn’t get this way overnight and we won’t recover overnight either. Reiki is a gentle modality to assist you in your journey and is not meant to replace medical attention.
